Day One – Shaded Border

Thursday April 12, 2018 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. $60

Many quilters own printed panels that they fell in love with, but never used in a quilt.  This shaded border is a great way to use a favorite panel and turn it into a work of art, while learning a new border design. The success of the border depends on choosing a background fabric similar to the panel background, and a set of colors shading from light to dark that will complement the design.

Day Two – Working with Value

Friday April 13, 2018   9 a.m. to 4 p.m.  $60.00

In the workshop you will explore scrap quilt designs using value, rather than color, to create successful quilts. The morning will be spent working through a set of practical exercises using a combination of light, medium and dark value triangles. Some of the results will be quite surprising. After lunch you will begin to design a small project ready for sewing. Some quilters will begin sewing at the end of the day, but many will spend the time designing, leaving the sewing to do at home.

Days Three & Four – Fast & Accurate Machine Piecing

Saturday April 14 and Sunday April 15 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Cost $110

This course is suitable for any level of quilter – beginner to more advanced. Each quilter can concentrate on the area most suited to their interests.  Many areas of quilting will be discussed from colour, value and fabric choices, designs, piecing and pressing. The aim is to give a clearer understanding of the whole process, so that in the future you will be comfortable changing pattern details or designing your own work successfully. Many samples will be shown to illustrate various techniques and designs, and approx..20 pages of notes given out. There is one small set piece to sew on the first day. For the remainder of the workshop, students usually prefer to sew samples to keep with their notes, rather than start a larger project.

Sign up for all four classes for only $200.  To ensure your place in the class, fees must be paid at time of registration. Supply list available at registration.
